Dining and Cuisine in Carinthia

 

The many different cultural influences of Italy and Slovenia have also left their mark on the Carinthian kitchen. The markets in Villach, Faak, Tarvisio and Udine sell regional specialties of the highest quality, e.g. scented bacon from the Gailtal valley, aged Montasio cheese from Tarvisio, fresh cider from the Lavanttal, sliced prosciutto from San Daniele, Carnica-honey from the Rosental and Friulian wine… those are the ingredients to ensure that your stay at the Faaker See is going to be a wonderful experience. There are two supermarkets for your everyday grocery purchases in the immediate vicinity. 

For a little extra fee, we can also equip you with food on the day of your arrival. In addition, you can also enjoy your first breakfast on your terrace with a "basket of treats" straight from an organic farm.

Restaurants and bars on the Faaker See and surrounding area

There are various restaurants in immediate walking distance to our apartment building. Two of them are even award winning:

  • The gourmet restaurant "Götzlstube" in the neighbouring hotel Karnerhof ishonored with two “chef´s hats” (Austrian cooking award). We will gladly reserve a table for you there – either in the evening or for the extensive breakfast buffet.
  • Carinthian delicacies at the highest level are offered by the "Gasthof Tschebull" in Egg am Faaker See

 

The big number of restaurants near the Faaker See and in the surrounding area guarantees that there is something suitable for every budget and taste. We can recommend:

  • The restaurant "St. Peter"
  • The "Gasthof Feichter" in Finkenstein
  • The "Alte Point" in Arriach
  • The Gasthaus "Umadum" in Unteraichwald
  • The Restaurant "La Subida" in Cormons

 

Night owls will be drawn to Villach, Klagenfurt or Velden am Wörthersee, with its numerous restaurants, bars and the casino.
